Gracie and Me – A Pretty Outfit and A Pretty Horse

Who’s enjoying spring???  I sure am!  Although I do enjoy the wintertime, I was very excited when the weather started getting warmer and the world started coming alive again 🙂  One reason I love springtime is because I was born then, so of course I always look forward to being a year older 😀

Gracie and Me - A Pretty Outfit and A Pretty Horse

I don’t know about you but spring is a very busy time for us … there are so many projects to get done, especially this year since we are still working on remodeling our home!  And then there’s all the outside work that needs to be done … so much to catch up on after the long winter months!

Springtime always reminds me of our Savior’s love and mercy towards us in giving us yet another year to serve Him – when I look around and see all the new life, growth and blessings around me, I can’t help but be amazed again and again by what an awesome and gracious God He really is!  He is definitely a good Father 🙂

Gracie and Me - A Pretty Outfit and A Pretty HorseYesterday I spent the afternoon working with our horse Gracie, along with Sam and Lydia!  When we got her last May she was completely untrained … she knew to come to food and liked being rubbed, but didn’t know what a halter was and definitely didn’t want to consider obeying anybody!  At first she would pretty much only cooperate with me but Sam has really stepped up and done wonders with her!  He’s turning out to be such an amazing trainer, and now Lydia is getting into training our old horse Stone, who needs some work too!

And me???  Well, I’m the clumsy one … if I go to desensitize Gracie by whipping the ground around her, I’ll end up whipping myself in the face instead.  I seem to always be the one getting stepped on, kicked, bitten, etc. and I’m often the one to blame for it!  I’ll be the one to jump on an untrained horse’s back just to see how long I can stay on for, whereas Sam and Lydia are the more thoughtful ones always reminding me of the “right” way to do things!

So when I go out to train Gracie, I usually have more to learn than she does, and I’m afraid I’m gonna drive Sam crazy one of these days!  We did a certain exercise with her yesterday and I’m not too sure if Gracie or me was worse at it! :p

Anyway, since we already had her out, I decided to get my pictures with her!  It’s a lot more fun and less awkward standing beside a beautiful horse, than standing in front of a camera by myself!

Although she belongs to the whole family, she’s definitely my baby 🙂  Isn’t she beautiful? Gracie and Me - A Pretty Outfit and A Pretty Horse

I really like the colors in this outfit and how comfortable it is!  I also like that everything I’m wearing can easily be dressed up or down for the occasion!  I wanted to wear something somewhat casual, but dressed it up a bit with a necklace, bracelet and colorful scarf to tie the colors together a little more!Gracie and Me - A Pretty Outfit and A Pretty Horse

It’s so much fun having a funny photographer – Lydia and I were cracking up nearly the whole time!  At one point Gracie was unintentionally standing on top of my foot, but I couldn’t stop laughing enough to tell her to step back, so Lydia ran up and started pushing Gracie back, to the poor girlie’s confusion!Gracie and Me - A Pretty Outfit and A Pretty Horse

She told me to spin around but didn’t say I couldn’t give her a crazy face!  Poor Gracie didn’t know what to make of us goofballs :p  At one point Lydia said, “I sure am glad nobody’s watching us!” … that was right before we noticed Hannah across the field laughing at us!Gracie and Me - A Pretty Outfit and A Pretty Horse

I found this top at a thrift store the other day for $4.99 – I was really excited because I’ve been looking for a good navy blue top for a while!  The tee came from eBay for about $4.50, and I got the skirt from Goodwill for about $3.50.  My cowboy boots came from eBay for $25 and are definitely the best shoe choice I’ve ever made, as I’ve been wearing them everyday around the farm for a long time and they are so comfortable!  I actually got this scarf for Sarah as a gift, but I like to wear it sometimes 🙂  I bought it from Zulily for $8.Gracie and Me - A Pretty Outfit and A Pretty Horse

This necklace was a birthday present from a friend years ago, and I made the bracelet from some beads my grandma gave me.  I bought the ring at a little shop in Jerusalem – it says “Hear oh Israel, YHWH our God – YHWH is one” in Hebrew.Gracie and Me - A Pretty Outfit and A Pretty Horse

I hope you’ve enjoyed this outfit post, and a peek into our lives lately – I would love to hear your thoughts in a comment below! With lots of love ~ Abigail

A Snow Day In Tennessee!

It isn’t often that we get 4-5 inches of snow!  In fact, I think it’s been 12 or 13 years since we had that amount!  On Friday it started falling and that night Abba and us children went out for a walk.

On Sabbath the whole family went out to play in the snow!  It was very powdery and didn’t pack well for snowballs but we had fun sledding!  Actually, I didn’t sled but I think everyone else did!A Snow Day In Tennessee!

Have a lovely week, y’all!! 🙂

Sharing Pictures and Memories of Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) 2015

Hello dear friends!

During late September/early October, our family went camping to celebrate Sukkot (the Feast of Tabernacles).  Our family has been observing this Biblical festival for 21 years and each year it is such a blessing.

families (11)

We camped at Fall Creek Falls State Park – which is a very beautiful park with many different activity options for all ages!  Throughout the whole week, there were around 40-50 of us … we had people come from all parts of the United States.  We had friends from Maine, Indiana, Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina, of course from Tennessee, and even a guy from California.

We built a community Sukkah together …sukkah (1)

We gathered every night to eat and fellowship together. group pics (19)

One day most of us went boating on the lake – it was gorgeous!  Some of us enjoyed peacefully canoeing on the lake … while some of the others enjoyed themselves by having water fights and boat wars 🙂

We went on so many trailer rides together!  It was so much fun … especially when someone started a song or we started waving to everyone who passed 🙂

For those of you who have not been to Fall Creek Falls, the people in this picture are standing on a lookout ledge that drops off hundreds of feet!  The view from “the point” is truly amazing and it is equally amazing to think of the awesome Creator who created such a magnificent earth!  I am reminded of two songs: Creation Calls and God of Wonders.

It was not always beautiful and sunshiny … actually, for the first half of our time there, it rained!  But the rain did not dampen the spirits of those there (although we were EXTREMELY happy when the sun shone again!)  We rejoiced anyways and we sang and read Scriptures in the rain.  One day we went to the pavilion across the field and danced for hours.  Sometimes people played games.group pics (3)

Twice during our stay groups of people went to get firewood!  We would fill our 16 foot trailer with large chunks of wood and then bring them back and split and stack it so that we could have campfires roaring!  It did not take very long because, as the old saying goes, “Many hands make light work”!firewood (2)

I cannot tell you how many volleyball games were played!

taking a break - house

As many of you know, our family is in the process of remodeling a 115 year old farmhouse into which we hope to move very soon.  It is going well.  As with any remodel job, once you get into it you find more things to fix, or have to change plans, etc.  We are very blessed that this is what my father and brother do for a living so they can do all the work that needs to be done.

But they haven’t been the only ones working!  The whole family has been pitching in to help! When I told my mother that I wanted to get a family picture for this post, she said, “But we’re all a mess!”  My reply was, “That’s kinda the point!”

We are a mess.  Most days we come home sweaty and stinky and grimy … and tired.  The house is a mess.  Because of the variety of things needing to be done, we have practically every tool out of my father’s work truck and spread around the house.  It’s sometimes a challenge to walk across the floor without tripping over saws, wires or even a walk-board!  With so many people in and out and all about, there have been plenty of opportunities to practice communication skills and forbearance.  Like the time one of the family members knocked a 6 foot level into the wet sheet rock mud that another family member has just finished!  Shhhhh … we won’t talk about that one!

And speaking of tools, we get plenty of opportunities to practice patience with people who are using the tools that we need.  Right now!  I mean, you would think that with at least three drills around, my brother wouldn’t need to keep taking the one that I’m using, right?  And when he takes that one and I go get another one, he decides he likes that one better and takes it too!

But the blessing of being able to work together as a family on this project far outweighs any challenges or complications and we are all looking forward to when it is finished and we can enjoy the fruit of our labors.

That being said, with us trying to focus on getting the house finished, and spending long hours working there, we are not able to put as much thought and focus into this blog right now.  So we will be taking a break … just for a few weeks.  We will miss interacting with all of our lovely readers but we know this is the best decision and we look forward to being back soon!

normal_CBB_square_Course_CraftBefore closing though, I want to once again recommend the Christian Blogger Bootcamp course for anyone who has a blog!  I mentioned this program several weeks ago but I want to bring it to your attention again.  I have been going through the course and find it very informative and helpful.  The author gives detailed instructions on how to write and design successful posts, and also teaches how to take advantage of social media and other outlets to expand your blog audience.  There is so much more information and it is very user-friendly.  Plus there is an exclusive FB group where the author and other participants can interact and help each other out.  If you have a blog, I strongly encourage you to check out this course.  You can use the code HHW10 to take 10% off!  Enrollment expires on August 31st.

And last but not least, Stephanie from The Enchanting Rose has posted a review and giveaway of some of our Lilla Rose products.  If you didn’t win our recent giveaway and would like another chance, you are most welcome to visit her lovely blog (which I recommend you visit regardless of whether you participate in the giveaway as it is always a very pleasant experience!).

See you in a few weeks!

Catching Up … With Pictures And Special Deals!

Do you see that old white farmhouse tucked away in the picture above?  That’s where our family is preparing to move!  The story of how it came about is amazing and shows the Father’s divine hand throughout … I look forward to sharing it when I have more time to type.  For right now, here are a few pictures to help you all visualize what we have been doing for the past few weeks – and what we will be doing for the next few weeks!  The plan is to move in by September 1st but there is a lot of work that needs to be done so we would appreciate your prayers that all the pieces fall into place in the perfect timing.

Words cannot express how excited we are to have a spring fed creek running just beside the house!IMG-20150702-WA0009

We have been working hard to get the rooms fixed up and ready to move in – for some this means cleaning and painting … working

… in others, it means replacing rotten floors!20150716_162857

We will share more pictures soon but for right now I just wanted to draw your attention to a few specials that you may be interested in.

I have used essential oils for years … you know, the cheap kind that you buy at the health food store.  They smelled fine but I could never figure out why people thought oils were so great since they didn’t seem to do what they were supposed to.  We recently signed up with Young Living and I learned the difference between cheap oils and real oils!  These really do work.  Thanks to FDA requirements, the long and the short of it is that I can’t tell you the specifics of how the oils have helped me but I can say that I have been very pleased with them.  Young Living is currently offering $10 off their premium starter kits for all new members.  You can view all their starter kits on this page.  Please note: the $10 off is not available on the Aria and NingXia Red versions of the Premium Kits

What is the advantage of being a member?  You can get all of the products at 24% off, plus earn commissions by selling these to other people.  There are some great resources available if you want to build a business with Young Living … if that is something you are interested in, please let me know and I will be happy to provide information.  You can sign up on this page (or if you’re already on the other page and just need a referral number, please use 2770595).  This offer expires August 14th.

P.S. If you are not interested in signing up as a member with Young Living but would like to purchase some of their products, please let me know and I would be happy to help!

Screen Shot 2015-07-27 at 9.00.32 AMAnd last but not least, if you haven’t heard about Top CashBack, you might want to check it out.  I have used different online rebate sites in the past but this one seems to be the most profitable. They have partnered with a wide range of stores to offer discounts on your online shopping … if you’re going to be placing an order, you might as well get some money back on it, right?!  You can find more information on this page.  And this offer does not expire 😉

Have a great week, y’all!

A Mother’s Day Tribute To My Husband

header

When I was younger and bearing children, my husband would say to me nearly every day before leaving for work, “Make sure you lie down and get a good nap … I know you may have a lot to do but you need your nap.”

A Mother's Day Tribute To My Husband

I do not remember when I transitioned into “not needing naps” but today I thought it would be a nice treat to get a little nap.  As I laid down on my hubby’s pillow, I enjoyed his scent that was left there.  That made me think back over the years.

When we were first married, I often enjoyed the luxury of laying in bed a little longer as my husband dressed for work.  I would watch him in wonder and awe.  He was such a beautiful, strong creation of YHWH and it amazed me that I was blessed to have him as my husband.  As the years have passed, his body has aged and put on some pounds here and there, but I admire and love it even more.  What a joy and blessing it is to “grow older together”.

A Mother's Day Tribute To My Husband

How can this be a “Mother’s Day Tribute”, you may ask?  Well, as I was snuggling down to enjoy my nap and thinking of my precious husband, I realized I would not be the blessed mother I am today if it were not for Tom.

  • If Tom were not willing to give me children, we would not have these most priceless possessions in our home to enjoy.

A Mother's Day Tribute To My Husband

  • If Tom was not willing to work hard to support our family, I would not be able to stay at home to enjoy raising our blessings.

A Mother's Day Tribute To My Husband

  • He is my strength; when I struggle and feel I cannot do something, Tom directs me to my Heavenly Father Who meets every need.

A Mother's Day Tribute To My Husband

  • Tom sees the good in people that I do not see and he encourages me to think the best.

A Mother's Day Tribute To My Husband

  • Tom loves and teaches our children in the ways they should go so that we can enjoy peace in our home.

A Mother's Day Tribute To My Husband

  • I used to be afraid of elderly people but watching Tom be loving and compassionate to the aged, delivered me from my fear.

A Mother's Day Tribute To My Husband

  • I used to be consumed with my goals but Tom taught me how to enjoy life along the way.

A Mother's Day Tribute To My Husband

I could go on and on about Tom’s wonderful attributes but simply put: I would not be the blessed mother I am today if it weren’t for the awesome, YHWH-fearing, loving and compassionate husband with whom I have been blessed.  To him I am grateful.
